A high surf advisory is in effect for south-facing shores of the Big Island’s north, east, south and Kona coasts through Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service said the surf was expected to build throughout the day Thursday, reaching advisory levels by the afternoon, as a long-period south swell fills in. Surf heights of 6-10 feet are expected.
The advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday. The surf is expected to start subsiding Sunday into early next week.
