Emerency sirens to be tested today

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency monthly test of the statewide outdoor siren warning system, coordinated withthe test of the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. today.

The siren test is a steady one minute tone on all sirens. The steady tone is used to alert the public to any emergency that may pose a threat to life and property. To report siren operations issues, call 935-0031.

Health center hosts open house for Filipino community

West Hawaii’s Filipino community is invited to an open house on Saturday at West Hawaii Community Health Center to learn about health care initiatives.

The open house will run 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at WHCHC’s Kealakehe location, 74-5214 Keanalehu Drive.

Attendees will get to tour the medical and dental facilities, receive a free health screening and staff will be on hand to assist with medical insurance enrollment and eligibility.
