KAILUA-KONA — Authorities believe speed and alcohol were factors in a fatal motorcycle crash in Paauilo Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the crash at about 2:47 a.m. Police determined the motorcyclist, identified as Glennon Pine, 43, of Paauilo, was driving a 1998 Yamaha motorcycle west on Hauola Road near Pohakea Road when he ran off the road, according to a press release from Hawaii Police Department.
Pine was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in this crash. Pine was not wearing a helmet, the release states.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

This is the 25th traffic fatality this year compared with 16 at this time last year.
