Caroline Kahaunani “Aunty Nani” Ahin, 77, of Pahoa, died July 19, 2017, at her residence. Born in Olaa, she was a retired manager with “Da Store” in Pahoa and a member of New Hope Christian Fellowship-Puna.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. on Aug. 2 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at noon Aug. 3 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for a graveside committal service. The family requests casual attire be worn
She is survived by husband, Achi Ahin, of Pahoa; son, Curtis (Kathy) Ahin, of Mountain View; daughters, Denise (Victor) Ventura, of Pahoa, and Kathleen (Matthew) Conner, of Virginia; hanai daughter, Charlene Malandres, of Pahoa; brothers, Eugene (Gloria) Kaluna, of Hilo, and Charles (Lyndee) Kaluna, of Pearl City, Oahu; hanai brother, Wesley (Barbara) Kobayashi, of Pahoa; sister, Kathleen (Solomon) Paio, of Pahoa; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elson Brown
Elson “Bobo” Kanaina Brown, 77, of Hilo, died July 22, 2017, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired foreman and lineman at Hawaii Electric Light Co., musician and entertainer in Hilo, owner of the former Bobo Brown Catering and a supporter of Hospice of Hilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Lynette Brown, of Hilo; daughters, Lisa Ann (Gilbert) Barretto of Kapaa, Kauai, and Kimberly (Manny) Morante and Glynis Rose (Legin) Moreno, both of Hilo; sister, Haunani (Stanley) Yorong, of Hilo; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Florence Kahele
Florence Kahele, 90, of Pahoa, died July 24, 2017, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 25, 1927, in Honolulu.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3 at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary on Oahu for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by son, Paul (Arnolette) Kahele; daughters, Elaine Kealoha, Grace Kahele, and Paulette (Pedro) Velasco; sister; May (Puni) Kamai; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Patricia Greenwell
Patricia “Pat” Gilman Greenwell, 92, of Waimea, died July 18, 2017, at her residence. Born Oct. 30, 1924, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and member of St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea.

Rosalie C. Combis, 58, died July 20, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born on April 8, 1959, on Oahu.
She is survived by daughter, Beke-lu (Kaleo); brothers, Byron (Amy) Tolbe, and Jacob (Johnette) Poki, sisters; Saundra Tolbe, Darlene Combis, Roinna Abrams and Honey Girl (Calvin) Kamalu; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, grand nieces, grand nephews and great-grandchildren.
