Keiki Story Time Wednesday

Keiki Story Time Wednesday

Kona Stories, assisted by the American Association of University Women, is hosting a story time best suited for children ages 3 to 7 years old at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the courtyard of Keauhou Shopping Center.

There is a $5 participation fee to cover crafts and snacks. Space is limited to 24 children and reservations are required. Check-in is 10 minutes early at Kona Stories.

The next Keiki Story Time is March 30.

Kiwanis Club meets

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Makalei Golf Club in Kailua-Kona.

All visiting Kiwanis and prospective members are invited to attend. The speaker will be a representative of the Hawaii District Health Office speaking on the rat lungworm disease on the West Hawaii side of the island.

Kiwanis looks to serve the community by conducting service projects that respond to identified needs, especially related to children.

Kailua-Kona Seniors meeting planned

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

A variety of board games will be available for members to play. July birthdays will be celebrated.

Register early for ukulele construction class

Kona Community School for Adults is offering its popular ukulele construction class taught by Guy Sasaki at Kealakehe High School.

The 15-session class begins Monday, Aug. 21 and continues from 6-9 p.m. each Monday evening until Dec. 11. Class fee is $120, cash only, plus $100 for materials, to be paid during class. A list of required tools and supplies will be provided during the first session.

Registration must be done in person from July 31 to Aug. 11 at Kona Community School for Adults on the campus of Kealakehe Intermediate School. Enroll early because the class fills up very quickly. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, 313-3032.

March for Christ set in Hilo

There will be March for Jesus Christ at 11 a.m. July 29 at the Mooheau Park, Hilo Bandstand.

This event will begin with a praise and worship, followed by a four-block sidewalk march in downtown Hilo, finishing at the park for more praise and worship.
