Auntie’s Angels seeks donations for seniors
Auntie’s Angels will hold its monthly Soup Kitchen ‘n’ Pantry on Saturday for the low-income seniors at Hualalai Elderly Housing.
Volunteers will cook and prepare a hot lunch for all. The nonprofit seeks donations of soup, mixed canned goods and personal hygiene items. Items can be dropped off by calling Auntie Jan at 329-7897.
Organic farming conference planned
Hawaii Organic Farming Association will present its annual conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Maona Community Garden in Honaunau.
The event, “Building Bridges for Resilient Agriculture: Facing the Challenges of Climate Change,” will address issues facing the agricultural community, invasive species, irrigating in the wet and dry tropics and other water, soil and fertility strategies, with an emphasis on practical solutions. Panel discussions are also planned.
Kay Howe will share her experiences and research related to rat lungworm disease.
The garden is located at 84-5097 Keala O Keawe Road.

KARS to meet
The Kona Amateur Radio Society will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the south end of Wawaloli Beach Park at NELHA.
All members, friends, and those interested in amateur (HAM) radio are invited. A potluck picnic will take place during the meeting and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. This month’s food theme is American food.
KARS holds regular meetings on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Car show nets $1,300
Big Island hot rods, classics and sports cars cruised into Lanihau Center in Kailua-Kona last Saturday for the Show ‘n’ Shine Summer Fun Event and raised $1,300 to support the shopping center’s annual drive for school supplies for keiki in need.
