‘Finding Solutions, Growing Peace’ series continues
Nonprofit Ku’ikahi Mediation Center hosts a free talk on Thursday as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series.
Talks are held from noon-1 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney at 655 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.
This month’s speaker is Dennis Alstrand who will discuss “Reaching Out to the ‘Other’ Side: Talk-Story on Building Bridges.”
In this talk-story, Alstrand will explore reaching out to people who seem different from oneself to build peaceful relations.
Alstrand is a case manager at Goodwill Industries for disabled welfare clients, heads a large delegation of Special Olympics athletes in East Hawaii, a member of the Puna Men’s Chorus and is a professionally trained volunteer mediator with Ku’ikahi Mediation Center.
Ku’ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session, and meet others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
This lunch-and-learn series is made possible thanks in part to funding from the Atherton Family Foundation.
