KAILUA-KONA — The Department of Water Supply’s Manager-Chief Engineer Keith Okamoto will present information on the Kona water emergency to county officials on Monday.

KAILUA-KONA — The Department of Water Supply’s Manager-Chief Engineer Keith Okamoto will present information on the Kona water emergency to county officials on Monday.

The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. in Kona Council Chambers at the West Hawaii Civic Center. It was called by council members Karen Eoff and Dru Mamo Kanuha, a press release announcing the meeting said on Friday.

Okamoto will provide an update on the repairs of the water wells and explain the cause for the pump failures. He will also provide detailed information to the Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability Committee on the steps that the Department of Water Supply is taking to ensure that this situation does not repeat itself in the future, the release said.

A community forum is also scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday in Council Chambers with Okamoto and time allotted for questions from the public.
