KAILUA-KONA — Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from work furlough in Hilo on Monday, officials confirmed Tuesday.
Spencer Feary, 30, is a work furlough inmate at the reintegration center Hale Nani, according to a press release from Hawaii Department of Public Safety.
He left for work Monday morning and was scheduled to come back to the center at 8:30 p.m. When he did not return, Hawaii County Police were notified.
Feary is serving time for robbery in the second degree. His next parole hearing was scheduled for October. The release states Feary now faces an additional escape charge when found.
Feary is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
Authorities ask the public to call 911 if they see Feary.
The 30-year-old is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Hale Nani is Hawaii Community Correction Center’s reintegration program. The release states it’s a dorm-style building located in Panaewa.
