Members of Girl Scout Troop No. 2028 in Kona made a recent surprise visit to the pet adoption event at the Petco Store. They presented a check for $300 to Deborah Cravatta, president of the Kohala Animal Relocation and Education Service (KARES) to assist with medical expenses for rescued animals. KARES is a foster-care based, nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that finds homes for homeless dogs. KARES also conducts spay and neuter clinics to decrease the overpopulation of dogs on the island.
“KARES is truly inspired by the thoughtfulness of the young scouts” said Cravatta. “They donated monies they earned from the sale of Girl Scout cookies to help the animals of the island; a special mahalo to all of them for their kindness and generosity of spirit.”
