The Big Island Giving Tree (BIGT) is ramping up the annual Sponsor a Student Program for this coming school year. Residents can donate to students whose families fall in the gap, orphans, houseless, in shelters, whose parents are in a residential program, who are being cared for by grandparents with no assistance, death of a parent or caregiver, or sudden illness of a parent or caregiver.

Anyone interested can email thebigislandgivingtree@gmail.com to confirm how many students they would like to sponsor. A school supply list of what the students need will be provided. Donors shop for the new/unused items and place them in a new back pack. BIGT is then contacted to arrange a drop off or pick up.
