Kent Kiyotsuka

Kent Isamu Kiyotsuka, 57, of Hilo died June 9, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired electrician for Keehne Eelectric and stock controller for Gemini Aura, Inc., member of Arise Church, Hilo Jaycees, Hawaii County Fair Foundation, Big Island Auto Club, John Ikawa Pit Crew and an Air Force veteran.

Friends may call from 4:30–6 p.m. June 15 at the Hilo Daijingu Church Hall for a 6 p.m. celebration of his life. Cremation to follow. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Cheryl Kiyotsuka of Hilo; son, Jerime (Alan) Kela-Dore of Michigan; daughters, Meghan (Dean) Doubell of Hilo, Michaela Kela-Kam of Ewa, Oahu; hanai son, Adam Fagan-Kela of Rhode Island; parents, Kenneth and Diane Kiyotsuka of Hilo; brother, Darren (Amy) Kiyotsuka of Kalaheo, Kauai; maternal grandmother, Sumiko Yamamoto of Papaikou; one uncle; four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eric Figueroa

Eric Kamakupa’amahana “Dueces” Figueroa, 25, of Kailua-Kona died May 29, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he and was a lead installer with Sunrun Solar in Kona.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. June 18 at the Onekahakaha Beach Park, Pavilion No. 7 in Hilo for a celebration of life ceremony. The family requests that casual attire be worn.

He is survived by parents, Charla and Patrick Atiz of Keaau; Fiance’, Anuhea Low of Kona; daughter, Cire Figueroa of Kona; son, Ayden Figueroa of Kona; brothers, John (Kelsey) Figueroa of Hilo, Aaron (Lilly) Figueroa of Pahoa, Kameran Atiz of Keaau; sister, Shayna Atiz of Keaau; maternal grandmother, Pinky Furtado-Figueroa of Keaau; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and a nephew.

Robert Mattos

Robert Michael A. Mattos, 79, of Hilo died June 6, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 9, 1938, in Hilo, he was a retired custodian for the University of Hawaii and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call for visitation from 5:30-9 p.m. June 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 6:30 p.m. service. Friends may also call for visitation from 8-10 a.m. June 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo with a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Burial will be at Alae Cemetery, new section.

He is survived by wife, Aileen Mattos of Hilo; sons, Robert (Cheryl) Mattos Jr. of Volcano, David (Laurie) Mattos of Hilo, Kirk (Sherry) Mattos of Ocean View; hanai daughter, Sherry (John Macayan) Mattos of Hilo; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Jackie) Mattos of Wisconsin, John (Connie) Mattos of Hilo, Roy (Jill) Mattos of Honokaa and Gordon (Adele) Mattos of Kekaha, Kauai; sisters, Rosemary (Deacon Jerry) Nunogawa and Bernie (Ralph) Tomas of Hilo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sarah Ching

Sarah Puilani Ching, 100, of Keaau died May 28, 2017, at home. Born Aug. 25, 1916, in Honolulu, she was a retired pastry and salad chef for Moana Hotel on Oahu.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Dorri Goodrich; son, Wilfred Ching; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
