Michiko Kunimoto
Michiko Kunimoto, 103, of Paukaa died April 16, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 8, 1914, in Kainaule (Onomea), she and was employed by the former Onomea Sugar Co. and Hawaii Fruit and Produce, Ltd. She was also an independent sugar cane and ginger farmer and member of the Papaikou Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Hilo Daijingu and Papaikou Senior Citizens Club.
Private services held. No flowers. No koden.
She is survived by sons, Wallace (Gladys) Kunimoto of Santa Barbara, Calif., Howard (Leonora) Kunimot, Richard (June) Kunimoto, all of Hilo; daughters, Sachiko (Hugh) Fleming of Mountain View, Kay Ujimori, Karen (Richard) Nakamoto, all of Honolulu; sister, Ann Natsu Shimada of San Jose, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Eleanor Pakele
Eleanor Momi Pakele, 96, of Hilo died May 12, 2017, at her son’s residence in Honokaa. Born March 28, 1921, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Private services were held. No koden.
She is survived by sons, Paul (Janice Aurora) Pakele of Honokaa, Donald (Lani) Pakele of Hilo and Leonard (Lynette) Pakele of Honolulu; daughter, Susan (Steven) Rice of Hilo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
