KAILUA-KONA — A partially clothed and semi-decomposed body of a male was discovered Sunday floating in a pool at the bottom of a large waterfall in North Kohala, the Hawaii Fire Department reported Monday.

KAILUA-KONA — A partially clothed and semi-decomposed body of a male was discovered Sunday floating in a pool at the bottom of a large waterfall in North Kohala, the Hawaii Fire Department reported Monday.

Kayakers found the body near coastline, south of Honopue Valley, and notified HFD around 11 a.m. Command post was set up at Pololu Valley lookout.

An investigation is underway.

Also on Sunday, a skydiver was listed in critical condition following an accident in which the diver’s parachute apparently malfunctioned.

Company 15, was dispatched to an EMS call and found a 41-year-old male solo skydiver with injuries from a hard landing, a fire department release states.

Responders were called around 11 a.m. to a vacant lot mauka of Upolu airport in North Kohala, where they found male lying on ground attended by four to five bystanders. The victim had multiple serious injuries and was transported to North Hawaii Community Hospital in critical condition.
