Free family day at Seaside Tennis Club
The Seaside Tennis Club at Mauna Kea Resort will host a free family day for children and adults on Saturday, May 27 sponsored by the North Hawaii Tennis Association.
Island tennis coaches and professionals including Hermann Fernandez, Wayne Barnes and Craig Pautler will be on hand for fun on the Seaside Tennis Club’s eleven ocean side courts with games and prizes beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a light lunch, included for participants.
Pre-register by calling the tennis Pro Shop at 882-5420 no later than May 22.
Racquets will be available for complimentary use. Participants should wear appropriate attire and tennis shoes or similar footwear that will not scuff the courts.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

BISA Special Teams Camp & Clinci
Big Island Sports Academy and the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation Department and Konawaena High School are pleased to announce a specialty clinic and instructional camp, which will be for boys and girls ages 12-18, and take place at Konawaena High School June 8-11.
The cost of the camp is $125 per player and early enrollment, which takes place at BISAhawaii.org, ends on June 4. Enrollment is limited. Registration will also be available on June 8 before the start of the camp if space is available.
Tee-Off for Kids golf tournament
The Boys & Girls Club Big Island will host the 11th annual Tee-Off for Kids golf tournament on Saturday, June 10 at Francis H. I‘i Brown South Course at Mauna Lani. Proceeds raised will be used to fund activities and programs designed to nurture island youth through the clubs in Pahoa, Keaau, Hilo, Ocean View and Pahala. The BGCBI also has plans to open a club on the west side this year.

Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament
The 15th annual Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 12 at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. Entry fee is $125 and there will be a 7 p.m. shotgun start. The format for the tournament will be two-person RBI Crazy Scramble using 30 percent of the team handicap with two putt maximum.
Team net prizes will be awarded randomly. There will also be a special prize for the best team low gross and the best team low net. The grand prize this year will be awarded to the low net team that finishes in 15th place. This is the 15th year of the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization.
Other prizes awarded will be hotel stays at the California Hotel and Casino, Kahala Hotel and Resort ocean view room valued at $955, Grand Wailea Hotel and Resort valued at $699, golf equipment, complimentary golf, restaurant certificates, and much more.
Funds raised will be used for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization and partial scholarship for RBI players who will be attending college.
Male and Female scholarships will be awarded.
Hapuna Rough Water Swim
The Hapuna Rough Water Swim, the second leg of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming summer series, will take place on Sunday, June 18. Along with the 1-mile race, there will also be a 400-meter swim for keiki. To register, visit flpregister.com/277
HIH College Prep Hoops Camp
Hawaii Island Hoops will hold its annual College Prep Hoops Camp at Kealakehe High School June 19-23.
The overnight camp, led by director Andy Smith, is focused on helping student-athletes improve their skills, while introducing them to a college style program, workouts and training.
College coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and and Junior College level will be attending the camp, which is is $350 for the week. Daily meals will be included in the fee, as well as daily seminars on financial aid and athletic recruitment. There will also be a Hapuna Beach trip.

Soccer ID Camp
Hawaii Preparatory Academy will host a soccer camp June 26-30 for kids ages 5-18. Each day the camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-12 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 13-18.
San Diego Club Director Jeff Illingworth will run the camp and will be helped by UC Santa Barbara head coach Tim Von Steeg, UC San Diego goalkeeper coach Trenton Painter, and Jennifer Jacques, a member of the Kona Crush staff.

FilAm Friendship Doubles Tennis Tournament
The 11th annual FilAm Friendship Doubles Tennis Tournament will take place July 15-16 at Holua.
The tournament will host the following formats: regular doubles teams (not team tennis), men’s, women’s, mixed, 6.0, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5 and open.

Hawaii Cycling Club’s Sea-to-Stars race
Hawaii Cycling Club, along with Bike Works, is once again hosting the 48-mile, 9,800 foot elevation climb, Sea-to-Stars bicycle race on Aug. 5.
Cyclists may sign up at usacycling.com for the $70 early-bird price, discounted from the regular $95 fee, until May 31. Discounts are also available for HCC members,students, and the military. The field will be limited to 50 riders.
Registration will be done online only, and will end on Aug. 1. There will be no registration on the day of the race.

Sean Maekawa is a volunteer assistant golf coach to Casey Martin for the University of Oregon Ducks. Sean was the 2007 Hawaii High School Champion and then played for the Ducks 2007-2011 and has been playing professionally since. Sean talks about what he is finding out about himself through this opportunity in his golf career to mentor the team members and work and be mentored himself by Casey.
Emily has information on the Round Up at the Ranch Barbecue and Dance at Waikiki Ranch July 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. It’s a benefit for the Daniel R Sayre Memorial Foundation. Funds raised will go towards purchasing equipment for the Hawaii Country Fire and Rescue.
