As a Libertarian, I am mirthfully delighted by the news that neo-Marxist nanny-stater Margaret Wille has been selected to become chair of the county Democratic Party. Indeed, this should be educational and amusing to everybody on the Big Island not a Democrat, few though we be.
The current POTUS would not be in the Oval Office (now and then) if Hawaii’s delegates Tonya Lee Coulter, Raina Whiting and Richard Harris had not rendered this possible by swaying one of Hawaii’s four electors to support Sanders – who wasn’t even officially running – as happened often enough in the rest of country to rob Clinton of the necessary electoral votes to represent the true election tally nationwide. So be it. But it displays well that such people have absolutely no grasp of consequences. These are the people who want to tell the rest of us what to do and how to live our lives. That’s what legislators do.
As blue dog Democrats become increasingly weary of governmental overreach and establishment liberals, many of them active and successful capitalists, become even more alienated from a party supporting Sanders-style national socialism they will likely contribute less to anachronistic, reactionary fossil “New Left” itineraries which incarnate as legislative micromanagement of every aspect of individual liberty and doing business in the officially rated worst state in the union for doing so.
Of course, this is the same thing that is happening to the GOP, wherein critical fundamentalist Christian and establishment conservative phyla are noticeably defecting from the tea party-controlled mechanism that supplied our current POTUS. A development I also find encouraging.
Needless to say, all this Balkanization will eventually be good for such alternate parties such as the Party of Principles (Libertarian), the eternally fractious Greens and the nearly extinct Constitutionalists. We have already seen cross-party defections at an unprecedented rate during the last presidential election cycle and members of the political-duopoly parties cannot have been comfortable making such decisions; many will explore alternative political parties seeking those which better reflect their philosophies and represent their best interests. What could be more American than that?
Hence, I, for one, am much cheered by learning that the local Democratic machine has been overwhelmed by the most radical wing of said party’s “progressivist” reactionaries. It will be ugly around here for a spell, but eventually the voting public will become entrapped by the legislative nightmare to come often enough to seriously weigh sober-minded alternatives to whatever unworkable economic and sociological “solutions” are espoused and enacted by the likes of “Maggie Won’t.”
But meanwhile, I suggest that we Big Island citizens take care to look over our shoulders anytime we leave our homes because henceforth everything we do may be illegal as we “progress” into a tropical Orwellian dystopia. Big sister is watching you.
