Drainage improvement work on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 190, in the area of Puuanahulu in North Kona continues this week.
The Department of Transportation said intermittent single-lane closures will be in effect 24 hours per day between mile markers 20 and 22. Trucks/trailers that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing through the project area is 10 feet.
On Saddle Road, alternating single-lane closures are planned between mile markers 8 and 12, in the vicinity of upper Kaumana, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for grading of the new Daniel K. Inouye Highway east side alignment.
Alternating lane closures also remain in effect on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau, along Highway 19 in the area of mile marker 16. The closures are in effect 24/7 for bridge rehabilitation work.
Travel speed on Umauma Bridge is reduced to 20 mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.
