Debra “Debbie” Sue Voss-Behrens, 62, of Waikoloa, died April 5, 2017, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Sept. 24, 1954, in Chicago, she was the office manager and pastry chef for Banjy’s Paradise Bar &Grill, business owner and antiques dealer for the former Behren’s Unlimited in Michigan and Florida.
Services were held.
She is survived by daughter, Coty Behrens of Palm Beach, Fla.; mother, Marilyn Voss of Concord, Calif.; sisters, Janice Rasmussen of Discovery Bay, Calif., Karen (James Skaife) Voss-Skaife of Waikoloa; brothers, Scott McEachern of Concord, Calif., Chuck (Gloria) Voss of Antioch, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Legacy
Joseph “Gille” Legacy, 64, of Kailua-Kona, died April 4, 2017, at his residence. Born Dec. 8, 1952, in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada, he was an accomplished artist, author and member of Knights of Columbus.
A celebration of life and a paddle out scattering of ashes by Keauhou Canoe Club will be held 9 a.m. April 11 at Keauhou Bay. For information, call 339-6300.
He is survived by wife, Sandi Legacy of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Claude (Nancy) Legacy, Eloi (Wonita) Legacy, Lucien (Sandra) Legacy; sisters, Nicole Legacy, Marie (Jim) Burns, Fanny Legacy all of New Brunswick, Canada; stepsons, Neil Glendinning, Iain Glendinning both of Goleta, California; numerous nieces and nephews.

Herman Costa Sr.
Herman Costa Sr., 85, of Hilo died April 5, 2017. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired seed cutter with the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co., Marine Corps. veteran.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. April 13 for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will be at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
He is survived by wife, Geraldine Lauae Costa of Hilo; sons, Herman (Debra-Ann Kikau) Costa Jr., Gordon Costa, Reginald Costa, Ronnie Lee Costa, all of Hilo; daughter, Bernadette (Leo Campbell Jr.) Costa of Mountain View; brothers, Lawrence (Martha) Costa, Gilbert de Costa, both of Kurtistown; sisters, Violet Nakea of Kona, Thelma (Robert) Riviera of Mountain View; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Nelson “Maka” Kaanoi Makanani Jr., 61, of Hilo died March 15, 2017, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired cargo agent for Aloha Air Cargo and a customer service agent for the former Aloha Airlines.
Visitation will be from 2–4 p.m. April 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 4 p.m. a celebration of his life. Casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Jan Makanani of Hilo; sons, Nelson (Kimberly Leahey) Makanani, III of New York, Todd (Denise) Fuerte of Kapaa, Drake (Nora) Fuerte of Honolulu; daughters, Jamie (Mark) Mabanag of Everett, Wash., Kiana (Tyler) Palea, Brandee Carrillo, all of Hilo; sister, Elizabeth Makanani-Ventura of Honolulu; brothers, Samuel (Zyla) Makanani of Honolulu, Timothy (Tammy) Makanani of Salinas, Calif., Paul (Sharon) Makanani of New Zealand; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews.

Luana Mae Cordero, 78, of Hilo died March 22, 2017, at her residence in Hilo. Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Honolulu, she was a retired custodian for the Haaheo School in Hilo.
Private services were held.
She is survived by sons, Ricky (Debroah) Kahapea of Albuquerque, N.M. , Mario (Clarie) Cordero Jr., Dale (Marlene Timsing) of Hilo, Samson (Ofelia) Cordero of Dallas; daughters, Julia Hoke of Hilo, Lulani (Mark) Tomaszewski of Auburn, Wash., Faith Cordero of Seattle; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Margie) Kahapea of Honolulu, Ernest Kahapea of San Francisco, Matthew Kahapea of Aiea, Oahu; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gilbert Hara
Gilbert “Gilly” Koichi Hara, 79, of Hilo died March 20, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired attorney in private practice, had worked for the State Department of the Attorney General in Honolulu, was an Army veteran, and served in the Army Reserve.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by brothers, George (Adela) Hara, James (Ilene) Hara, and Glenn (Suzanne) Hara, all of Hilo; sisters, Jeanne (Harold) Kurita of Honolulu, Grace (Charles) Kawamoto of Pahoa; numerous nieces and nephews.
