Friends of the Children of West Hawaii and Girl Scouts placed 500 pinwheels at the entrance of the Makalei Golf Course Clubhouse on Saturday for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Pinwheels were introduced in 2008 as the national symbol for child abuse prevention according to Friends of the Children of West Hawaii.
Research shows that people respond to the pinwheel, which connotes whimsy and childlike notions. It is a reminder of the great childhood we want for all our children.
