Firefighters put out a small fire Friday morning.

They arrived at 9:05 a.m. at a two-story structure off Holualoa Highway 180 above the Holualoa Elementary School scene to find smoldering on the bottom south east corner of the structure. A neighbor using a garden hose tried to stop the spread of the fire.

The bottom area of the structure burning was approx. 20 feet by 10 feet and X all contents in the room were severely burnt. Fire extinguished at 9:15 a.m.. Eight people live down stairs in the unit. Inspectors are determining the fire’s cause.
