Beverly Parker
Beverly Jean Parker, 74, of Hawaiian Paradise Park died March 27, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Evansville, Ind., she was an antique dealer.
A celebration of her life will begin at 5 p.m. March 31 at her residence.
She is survived by sons, Kenneth Pantalion of Keaau, Anthony De La Vega of Maryland, Richard Sherwood of Hilo; daughter, Laura Sherwood of Hilo; sister, Bonnie Beardsley of Hilo; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

William Pakani Sr.
William “Bill” Kulakauka Pakani Sr., 93, of Waiokawa (King’s Landing) died March 2, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hanapepe, Kauai, he was a retired power plant operator for the Hawaii Electric Light Company and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward.
Visitation will begin from 8-10 a.m. April 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery, Mormon Section. Casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Audrey Pakani of Waiokawa; children, Renee Mata of Hilo, Ron Mata,, Jamie Mata, both of Kona, Michael Mata Jr. of Los Angeles Jo Ellen Mata of Kona, Travis Boerstol of Honolulu, Todd Pakani, Solomon (Lloydetta) Pakani, William (Helen) Pakani Jr., Russell-Wayne (Stephanie) Pakani, all of Hilo, Hannah (Eddie) Jenkins of Las Vegas; brother, Junior Daano of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Therezinha Dison
Therezinha Dison, 94, of Kailua-Kona died March 23, 2017, in Kailua-Kona. Born Aug. 17, 1922, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, she worked in maintenance for United Airlines. She also worked as a volunteer at the St. Anthony’s Dining Room, the Food Basket, the Food Bank in California, and Hospice of Kona Thrift Store.
A celebration of life is planned at 4 p.m. April 4 at the Regency of Hualalai. Condolences may be posted at ballardfamilymortuaries.com.
She is survived by sons, Robert (Cynthia) Dixson of Kailua-Kona; Michael Thomas of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Lorraine Dison of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marija Bruggeman, 47, of Hilo, died Jan. 11, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Croatia, she attended Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha and was the wife of the Late Ronald F. Bruggeman.

Jesse Kunewa
Jesse “Captain Alii” Kealii Kamakaila O Kamehameha Kunewa, 81, of Kailua-Kona died March 12, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 16, 1935, in Kailua-Kona, he was a charter boat captain, fisherman, luau entertainer, coconut weaver, tour guide and past member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha and the Merrie Monarchs.

Steven Way
Steven Craig Way, 73, of Honokaa, died in his home Jan. 29, 2017.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1943, in Los Angeles. Steve worked at a National Park Services on the Mainland as a skilled boat restorer before eventually retiring to Hawaii in 2008.
Steve requested no memorial services and his ashes scattered at sea in a private gathering of friends. Donations on behalf Mr. Way are graciously accepted by the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission, c/o P.O. Box 1667, Honokaa, Hawaii 96727.
