Judy Kosches

Judy Frohman Kosches, 87, of Chicago died March 18, 2017, in Chicago. Born Jan. 12, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a former fashion model and retail salesperson.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. March 24 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Her family will “sit Shiva” (Jewish mourning period) for three days following services. Friends are invited to attend at the residence of Steven Kosches. Info: (312) 405-5654. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by son, Steven Kosches of Keaau; daughter, Ronni (Scott) Kassal of Chicago.

Eiko Yoshimura

Eiko Yoshimura, 88, of Hilo died March 10, 2017, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Osaka, Japan, she was the head minister of Tenkokyo Hawaii Kyokai.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. March 26 at Tenkokyo Hawaii Kyokai in Hilo for a funeral service.

She is survived by nieces, Taeko Doi and Hideko Noguchi, both of Japan; and other relatives.

John Delaney

John Michael “Mike” Delaney, 83, died Jan. 22, 2017, in Eagle, Idaho. Born Nov. 20, 1933, in Detroit, he served as associate dean and chairman of both the orthodontic and pediatric dentistry departments at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and was a private practice pediatric dentist and orthodontist on Hawaii Island. He was an Air Force veteran and helped establish the first dental school in the Caribbean with Health Volunteers Overseas.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. April 1 the North Pavilion at Hapuna Beach for a celebration of life. A barbecue will follow.

He is survived by wife, Rita; children, Shaun of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Kevin of Kona; Todd of Ventura, Calif.; Jack of Kona, and Stuart of Petoskey, Mich.; stepchildren, Tina, Tim, Travis, Ali and Zach, all of Boise, Idaho; 25 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Irene Cunningham

Irene Cunningham, 84, of Hilo died March 7, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Lahaina, Maui, she was a retired waitress with Ken’s House of Pancakes.

Private services were held.

She is survived by son, Charles (Anita) Cunningham of Hilo, Robert (Lei) Cunningham of Kaneohe, Oahu; daughter, Rena (Tom) Lodge of Keaau; brother, James (Phyllis) Abiva of Makakilo, Oahu; four grandchildren, six great-grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.

Brian Shimasaki

Brian Toshio Shimasaki, 61, of Hilo died March 13, 2017, at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, he was a warehouseman with T. Hara &Co., Ltd. and proprietor of Shima’s Lawn Service. He was also a member of the General Assembly Church of the First Born of Jesus Christ and the Hawaii Bowling League.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. March 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. March 29 at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section for committal services. The family requests that aloha attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Jennifer (James) Arquitola of Keaau, Jessica Shimasaki of Pepeekeo; brothers, Bruce (Gardenia) Shimasaki, Errol (Joanne) Shimasaki, all of Hilo; sisters, Arlene Holland of Kentucky and Reverend Marlene (Benjamin) Gapusan of Hilo; eight grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
