Mariano delos Santos
Mariano Viloria delos Santos, 65, of Pahala died Feb. 10, 2017, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Nov. 2, 1951, in Barbar, San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired wheel tractor operator for Royal Hawaiian Orchards in Pahala and member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
An all-night vigil will be held on March 22 at the delos Santos residence at 96-3127 Puahala Street in Pahala, Visitation from 5 p.m. Friends may call at 8 a.m. on March 23 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire and flowers and lei are welcomed. Burial to follow at the Pahala Catholic Church Cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Francisca Penera delos Santos of Pahala; daughters, Marife (Percival) Nazaire of Kailua-Kona, Maribel (Dayne, Sr.) Tsunezumi of Makakilo, Oahu, May (Philip) Galacio and Maricel (Mikhal) Graig of Pahala; brothers, Marino (Rufina) delos Santos and Manuel (Erlinda) delos Santos of Philippines; sister, Dionisia (Benito) Visoria, Antonina delos Santos Verano and Apolonia (Diego Jr.) Dador of Philippines; five grandchildren; 12 nephews, 10 nieces and one grandniece.

Michael Spalding
Michael Kimo Spalding, 50, of Hilo died March 1, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 5, 1967, in Hilo, he was a Tahitian drum maker, the president of Poe O Hawaii, a member of the Culture and Music of Pacific Islands and a member of Koa Puna Motorcycle Club.
Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m. March 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo with a 10 a.m. celebration of his life. Cremation will follow. Casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Monalisa Spalding of Hilo; daughters, Michaelette (Weston) Yamada of Oahu, Melissa Spalding-Carriaga, Eden Spalding-Carriaga and Micolle (Casey) Spalding-Carriaga, all of Hilo; mother, Daisy Spalding of Hilo; sisters, Gwen (Harold) Spalding-Mercado, Crystal (Cisco) Spalding-Poepoe and Victoria (Thomas) Spalding-Harris, all of Hilo; two grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tien Minh Tran, 24, of Aurora, Colo., died March 7, 2017, at Nederland, Colo. Born in Hawaii, he was a Senior Airman with U,S. Air Force.
Friends may call from 3-4 p.m. March 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call from 9-10:30 a.m. March 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by father, Frank Tran of Houston; Step mother, Phung Mai of Houston; mother, Nhan Tran of Kurtistown; brother, Luan Tran of Pearl City, Oahu; sister, Sandy Tran of Las Vegas; a niece and a nephew.

Elsie Fontes, 90, of Honolulu died March 14, 2017, at the Liliha Health Care Center of Oahu. She was a homemaker.

Steve Rikio Morishita, 62, of Hilo died March 4, 2017, at his home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the United States Postal Service and a member of Hilo Hongwanji Judo Club.
