Lauhala bracelet weaving class
Attendees at a lauhala bracelet weaving class will learn the varied traditional uses for each part of the tree, including how to gather and prepare leaves for weaving. They will also create their own bracelet.
The class is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Christ Church Episcopal on Konawaena School Road just mauka of Highway 11. Cost is $15. Attendees should bring a hand towel.

New veterinary assistance training course discussed
Students interested in the new Veterinary Assisting Program being offered on Hawaii Island this fall are invited to an information session at Hawaii Community College – Palamanui.
The Certificate of Achievement in Veterinary Assisting is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to perform effectively as an assistant in a veterinarian’s office, animal shelter or animal research facility. The two-semester, 31-credit hybrid program includes online coursework in life sciences, as well as hands-on experience through labs and internships at local veterinary clinics.
Interested students can attend a free information session March 21, April 11 or May 1 at Hawaii Community College – Palamanui in Koali Room A101.
Seniors hold quarterly business meeting
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will hold a quarterly business meeting followed by indoor and outdoor games at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

Presenters sought for Oahu agriculture conference
The Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii will host the Hawaii Agriculture Conference, AG2017, on Aug. 29-30 at the Hawaii Convention Center on Oahu. The Hawaii AG2017 Organizing Committee is soliciting proposals for oral presentations, poster presentations, symposiums, forums and workshops.
Proposals are being accepted under the following three tracks:
1. Hawaii’s $300 Million Ag Opportunity
2. Local Farms, Families and Communities
3. Sustaining the Aina for Future Generations
To submit a proposal, visit https://hiagconference.org by April 3. Applicants will be notified via email if their submission has been accepted for presentation at the conference.
