Bertjim Salmo Badua, 28, of Kapaau, turned himself in March 3 after a bench warrant of $15,000 was issued for his arrest on Feb. 16.

Badua was indicted after he allegedly struck Jacob Freebaim with his vehicle while traveling on Kawaihae Road on Feb. 7, 2016.

Brian De Lima, Badua’s attorney, had not yet seen the police reports or discovery for the case. Once he reviews those documents, he said he will advise his client on how to proceed.

Badua is charged with negligent homicide, possession of paraphernalia, promoting a dangerous drug, identified as cocaine and driving while intoxicated.

A scheduling conference has been set for April 19 and a trial for June. 3.
