Cynthia Gould
Cynthia Louise Gould, 65, of Ocean View died Feb. 27, 2017, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Dec. 12, 1951, in Seattle, she was a sales manager for Service Rentals and Supplies.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. March 11 on the beach at Old Kona Airport Park, close to the end of the runway. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by husband, Richard Gould of Ocean View; daughter, Sanja (Connan) Gaboriault of Seattle; mother, Bertha Stendera of Seattle; brothers, John Stendera of Duvall, Wash., Russell (Deborah) Stendera of Monroe, Wash., Kenneth (Susan) Stendera of Lake Forest Park, Wash., Vincent (Heather) Stendera of Labbadie, Miss.; one grandchild; 11 nieces and nephews; 14 cousins.

June Agcalon
June Eiko (Ohigashi) Agcalon, 71, of Glenwood died Feb. 21, 2017, at home. Born June 9, 1945, in Olaa, she was a homemaker and an employee for the former Puna Federal Credit Union.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. March 10 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo with a 7 p.m. service. Casual attire.
She is survived by husband, Fred Agcalon of Glenwood; son, Derek Agcalon of Glenwood; daughters, Laura Agcalon of Glenwood, Sonia Agcalon, Robyn Agcalon, both of Hilo; brother, Clyde Ohigashi of Hilo; sister, Mae Crane of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard Hoolulu
Richard Kaahui Hoolulu, 69, of Pahoa died Feb. 19, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Koolaupoko, Oahu and was a retired warehouseman with Cackle Fresh Egg Farm on Oahu. He was also an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 11 at Pohoiki Boat Ramp for a memorial gathering. Friends may also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 12 at the Lanikai Boat Ramp, Kailua, Oahu for a memorial gathering, followed by scattering of ashes at sea. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
He is survived by brothers, Andrew Hoolulu, Ernest Hoolulu, both of Oahu; sister, Lizzie Evangelista of Oahu; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joseph Kiko III
Joseph “Joe” Kiko III, 64, of Hilo died Feb. 9, 2017, at home. Born Aug. 23, 1952, on Oahu, he was a retired drywall taper for the Tapers Local Union 1944.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. March 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo with a 5 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire and no flowers.
He is survived by sons, Kimo (Rena Cook) Kiko of Hilo, Joseph Sr. (Kandy) Kiko of Hilo; brothers, Jacob (Jeanette) Kiko of Keaukaha and Jon (Luz) Kiko of Honolulu; sisters, Frances Kiko, Mary Kiko, both of Oahu, Thelma Kane of Kailua-Kona; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard Spencer
Richard “Dickie” Ray Spencer, 73, of Waimea died Feb. 1, 2017, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Kohala, he was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church.
Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. March 11 at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea for an 11 a.m. funeral service, followed by burial at the St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery.
The family requests casual attire. Flowers and lei are welcome.
He is survived by caregiver, Kimberly (Linda Tester) Young of Waimea; sisters, Gwen Forsythe of Honolulu, Abigail Pharazyn of Arlington, Wash.; brother, Edward (Rose) Spencer Sr. of Waimea; goddaughter, Desirae (Grant James) Taulbee of Lexington, Ken.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gladys Toko
Gladys Emily Hauanio Toko, 83, of Kukuihaele died Feb. 10, 2017, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 5, 1933, in Waipio Valley, she worked for Kaneshiro Poi Factory, was a retired taro farmer and a former bus driver for Fujimoto’s Service Station.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. March 11 at the family residence, 48-5459 Kukuihaele Road, Kukuihaele, for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Burial will follow at Kukuihaele County Cemetery. Aloha attire.
She is survived by sons, Ellaham (Cindi) Toko of Seattle, Naaman (Debbie) Toko of Waipio Valley; daughters, Gladys (Daniel) Ablao of Waikoloa, Florene Hoapili of Kukuihaele; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Appleton
James Bruce Appleton, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 12, 2017, at his residence. Born April 5 1948, in Denver, he was an aircraft mechanic for Aloha Airlines, Aloha Air Cargo and Mid Pacific Airlines.
Private services will be held at a later date. In remembrance, those who cannot become beekeepers may plant a bee garden.
He is survived by wife, Louise Appleton of Kailua-Kona; son, Jeffrey Appleton of Houston, Texas; daughters, Nicole Lyons of Honolulu, and Rosie Appleton of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Nancy Appleton of Kailua, Oahu, Peggy (Tim) Mann of Colorado; two grandsons; several nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt.

Sally Seikaku
Sally Yukie Seikaku, 87, of Papaikou died Feb. 22, 2017, at her residence. Born April 22, 1929, in Olaa she was the co-proprietor of the former Aloha Mart Gift Shop and worked as a part-time cashier at the former Pinky’s General Store in Papaikou. She was a member of the Papaikou Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Private services held. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
She is survived by daughter, Dale (Carl) Terashima of Mililani; son, Gerald Seikaku of Papaikou; sister, Kazuko (Hisashi) Yamano of Torrance, California; two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
