Yuen Chong Young
Yuen Chong “Uncle Chang” “Abraham” Young, 91, died Jan. 27, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 2, 1925, in Kalapana, he was a retired school bus driver.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. March 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo. Eulogy will be read at 6 p.m. An all-night vigil will follow at the Star of the Sea Painted Church in Kalapana. Visitation will continue from 8-10 a.m. March 4 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Cremation will follow. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by nephews, Andrew Dunn of Lincoln, Neb. Gerald (Noe) Dunn of Kalapana; nieces, Aileen (Tony) Obina, Patricia Dunn, Gail (Robert) Sandstrom, all of Hilo, Frances (Bob) Lynch of Milwaukee, Annette (Charles) Tirrell of San Antonio, Texas.

Irene Yoshiko Arakaki, 74, of Pepeekeo died Jan. 30, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kamaee Mauka, she was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse from Hilo Medical Center and member of Hakalau Jodo Mission, Honomu Henjoji Mission, Red Hat Society, Hui Okinawa, UPW Retirees, Hilo Hospital Retirees, RSVP, and Pepeekeo Senior Citizens Club.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. March 4 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5:30 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gift or flowers.
She is survived by brothers, Ted (Muriel) Arakaki of Honolulu, Bobby Arakaki of Pepeekeo; sisters, Hanako Shishido of Kaneohe, Oahu, Kikue Matsuoka of California, Kikuko Oshiro and Fumie Poka of Honolulu; one aunt; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frank “Pumpkin” Ogawa Sr., 71, of Hilo died Jan. 29, 2017, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired loader operator for Yamada &Sons.

Jacinto Conol Jr., 65, of Mountain View died Feb. 18, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 16, 1951, in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver instructor at Chevron USA and a caregiver for his spouse.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. March 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 6 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed.

Emily “Kauwe” Kauweakanoaakakawaleno haleakalakauweakekiniao koolau Kauhaihao, 83, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 1, 2017, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born July 17, 1933, in Honolulu, she was a retired kitchen helper for Kamigaki Store in Kealakekua and member of Lanakila Congregational Church.

Remedios “Meding” Gonzales Bacxa, 85, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 17, 2017, at her residence. Born June 10, 1931, in Laoag City, Philippines, she was a homemaker, a former teacher and laboratory assistant and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. March 18 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holualoa with a 11 a.m. service. A luncheon will follow at Queen Liliuokalani Subdivision recreation center. For information call 329-1370.

Hilda Kathleen Decker, 90, of Waimea died Feb. 21, 2017, in Honokaa. Born Aug. 22, 1926, in Indiana, she was a Sunday school teacher and a homemaker.
