Mr. Manuel “Maning” Delo Santos, Sr., 90, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 15, 2017, at his residence. Born June 9, 1926, in Kohala, he was a self employed coffee and macadamia nut farmer. He was a member of the Kona Lions Club, Ilocano Ancestry Club, American Legion, and a U.S. Army WWII veteran and aircraft mechanic.
A 7 a.m. visitation will be held March 2 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua; Mass at 9:30 a.m. and burial will follow at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests aloha attire and in lieu of flowers, monetary donations be made in his memory to the Lions Club of Kona at P.O. Box 287, Kealakekua, Hawaii 96750.
He is survived by his wife, Vicenta Delo Santos of Captain Cook; son, Manuel (Robin) Delo Santos, Jr., of Captain Cook; daughters, Diane (Gary) Nagano of Captain Cook, Leialoha Cooper of Savannah, Tenn., Melanie (Cy) Nakamoto of Kainaliu, Cindy (Marvin) Terawaki of Beltsville, Md., Stephanie (Paul) Armitage, Rose (Glenn) Kekoa, and Debbie (Mark) Dumaguin, all of Captain Cook, and Jolene (Floyd) Kahalioumi of Kealakekua; sisters, Mary Belanio of Captain Cook; two sisters-in-law; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
