Andrew Bannister
Andrew Kalakini Bannister, 76, of Kealakekua died Jan. 19, 2017, at the family’s residence. Born Sept. 5, 1940, in Wailua, Oahu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, rancher, fisherman and hunter. He was a member of Operators Engineers Local 3.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. Feb. 25 at Kahikolu Congregational Church on Napoopoo Road for a 10:30 a.m. memorial service. Luncheon and fellowship will follow. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Bannister of Kealakekua; sons, Clinton (Roylynn) Bannister of Pahoa, Arnold (Davolyn Pama) Bannister of Kealakekua, and Moses (Tanya) Bannister of Honaunau; daughters, Leonora (Timothy) Walsh of Mesa, Ariz., Karen (Wray) Ichishita of Kealakekua; brother, Samuel Bannister of Waimea; sisters, Josephine Houghtailing of Vallejo, Calif., and Esther Pahoa of Killeen, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alvan Furtado
Alvan Lawrence Furtado, 62, died July 11, 2015, in Gardena, Calif.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Feb. 24 with Mass to follow at Sacred Heart Church on Wilder Avenue on Oahu.
He is survived by son, Edward Kaimi Histo and one grandchild.

June Furtado
June Setsuko Furtado, 92, of Kaimuki, Oahu died Jan. 1, 2017, in Mountain View.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Feb. 24 at Sacred Heart Church on Wilder Avenue on Oahu with Mass to follow.
She is survived by sons, Thomas Furtado Jr. and Davey Furtado; daughters, Marva (Larry) Newhall and LeeAnn (Mike) Bruscato; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

August Loando
August Loando Sr., 90, of Opihihale died Jan. 30, 2017, at Hospice of Kona Nakamaru Hale. Born March 14, 1926, in North Kohala, he was a World War II Army veteran, cowboy for McCandless Ranch, Hawaii County Police Reserve Officer, security guard for Hawaii Protective Association, volleyball and softball coach for Hookena Athletic Club, a champion bull rider, retired Hawaiian Airlines baggage agent, and one of the founding members of the Kona-Ka’u Roping Association Rodeo Arena.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 25 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona with services at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Hale Halawai pavilion in Kailua-Kona. Interment of ashes will be at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
He is survived by daughter, Pearl (Kent) Simmons of Kailua-Kona; sons, August Loando Jr. of Waianae, Oahu, Oswald Loando of Opihihale, Michael (Cynthia) Loando of Kailua-Kona; brother, Gilbert Loando of Kalaoa, Kona; 13 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary-Jo Gaspar
Mary-Jo “MJ” Anna Gaspar, 42, of Las Vegas died Jan. 31, 2017, at her residence. Born Oct. 20, 1974, in Kealakekua, she was an educational assistant for Department of Education, a service contractor for Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends may call for viewing at 8 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona with a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Friends are invited to a luncheon and fellowship at the church hall. Casual attire is requested and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by father, Earl (Diana) Gaspar of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Earl (Jenny) Gaspar of San Jose, Calif., William (Joyal) Gaspar, Glen Gaspar, Jamie Gaspar, all of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Iris Gaspar of Las Vegas, Isis (Pritchard) Lealiiee, Emma Gaspar, all of Kailua-Kona; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
