Assad not worthy of support
Assad not worthy of support
It saddens me to read letters from individuals who haven’t taken the time or effort to know what is happening in Syria. Fox News is not a credible source regarding Syria. The uprising in Syria began as a localized response by its citizens against the many years of systematic terror and genocide conducted by the Assad family and its cronies.
The Assad’s have wiped out individuals, families, and whole villages for both opposition and religious reasons. The US government and Tulsi Gabbard know this to be true as there is a massive amount of documented proof. The uprising was not started or initially supported by Islamic terrorists. The terrorist groups have opportunistically filled the void left when the US and its allies chose not to push Assad from power.
By supporting the Assad regime, the US has allowed Islamic terrorists to not only acquire a strong foothold in Syria but to provide them with the moral high ground with regards to the Syrian conflict, thus helping their recruitment throughout the world. The Syrian government and Russia are the ones that have specifically targeted the Syrian people.
While I happen to like a lot of what Tulsi stands for and voted for her, she is wrong on Syria. Shame on the US government and Tulsi Gabbard for supporting one of the most evil regimes on this planet. We should immediately force the ousting of the Assad family and then join the Syrian people to push out the terrorist groups, but I have no hope of that.

Too polite driving actually dangerous
During my morning drive each day from Kailua-Kona to Kealakekua to go to work, there is a left turn lane just north past Lako Street to get on to Kuakini Highway and more often than not cars going south have come to a screeching stop because someone in front of them decides they are going to be nice and stop to let five or six cars turn left.
Come on people if traffic is moving … don’t stop. There is no stop there! I don’t appreciate almost being rear-ended or having to slam on my brakes behind you because you just decided to stop. Causing an accident is not aloha.
