VFW schedule announced
VFW Post 12122 behind Kona Locksmith off Kaiwi Street has several events planned.
The Activities Committee meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Chicken will be served with salad and a dessert starting at 5 p.m. Friday for $5. The public is welcome.
VFW Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 on Saturday.

Firefighter training at KOA this week
The Hawaii Department of Transportation will hold live fire training at Kona International Airport for the Hawaii District Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and on Wednesday and Thursday.
The exercise is an annual requirement by the Federal Aviation Administration. Firefighters will test their response protocol to a live emergency scenario involving burning fuel. The exercise will produce smoke.
