The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution installed its executive board for 2017-19 on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The theme for 2017 representing the chapter’s volunteer efforts is “Our Military, the Past, the Present and the Future.” In 2016 The Hawaii Loa Chapter volunteered more than 5,300 hours for historic preservation, education and patriotism. The new executive board is Regent Ginger Hall of Kailua-Kona, Vice Regent Margaret Russo of Volcano, Secretary Marcy Brinkley of Waikoloa, Treasurer Jeanie Thompson of Waimea, Registrar Mary Ellen Smith of Kailua-Kona, Chaplain Mary Katherine Trevithick of Kailua-Kona, Historian Robin Moorehouse of Keaau and Librarian Betsy Solis of Kailua-Kona.
The chapter meets bimonthly six times a year at locations around the island. Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education for children.
