Cartoonish offense
I had to laugh at Donald Stiger’s Jan. 25 letter shaming West Hawaii Today for the inaugural cartoon that ran.
What about Trump’s dreadful, divisive speech?
Trump belongs in the nut house, not the White House. Too bad Ronald Reagen shut them all down.

When Ronald Reagan spoke the words “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,” I believe he was extolling the benefits of liberty and freedom. Long live liberty and freedom. Mr. Trump, tear down your wall.

Speed trap and entrapment
I’m not sure who hired the current contractor to repair the Saddle Road. Goodfellow Bros. would have been a better choice. Most highway builders would have left two lanes paved so travel could continue at a reasonable rate. Most everyone is frustrated with the delays.
So on Jan. 24, I waited in traffic for 45 minutes. After clearing this hurdle, I ran into two separate police speed traps. First, at Mauna Kea Recreation area. Second, on the downhill side toward Kona. I usually try to do the speed limit. When there is a speed trap people will flash their lights to warn you. I did this one day and got pulled over for defective lights. The speed limit is supposed to be increased.
Please Mayor Harry Kim, stop this unfair practice of the police department.
