VFW schedule announced
Pasta, salad and dessert will be served starting at 5 p.m. Friday for $5. The public is welcome. The post has reopened and is fully functional, with a well-stocked friendly bar.
There will be an abbreviated VFW meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday at which time a scooter will be presented to a post member. It was donated by Ken Blum of Hawaiian Solar.
Following the Saturday meeting the post will show the Seahawks on TV. It will be a potluck with a Mexican food theme. The public is welcome. Bring a dish to share.

Tropical fruit growers meeting planned
The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers, 81-6393 Mamalahoa Highway. Nonmembers are welcome.
Brian Lievens and Ken Love will discuss different Theobroma species including cacao, bicolar, mammosum and cupuacu. All are encouraged to bring fruit to share.

‘Nurturing as a Way of Life’ seminar offered
The West Hawaii Keiki Coalition is hosting “Nurturing as a Way of Life” by Stephen J. Bavolek, PhD, from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay.

Edwards makes college dean’s list
Trevor Edwards, of Kailua Kona, was named to the dean’s list at Lehigh University in the fall semester.
Dean’s list status is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.
