The Hawaii Police Department reports that a van parked near a heavily trafficked bus stop in Ocean View has been removed.

Area II Assistant Chief Mitchell Kanehailua said Ka’u District Capt. Burt Shimabukuro reported that the Hawaii County Department of Environmental Management removed the vehicle Thursday afternoon.

A story in Sunday’s edition reported parents’ concerns over the white van being used as a residence, with curtains draping the windows and picture frames set up across the dashboard, parked just off the roadside near the intersection of Lotus Blossom Lane and Princess Kaiulani Boulevard for months.

Kanehailua said the vehicle was parked on private property owned by a utility company, but the county still removed it.
