Art Cookbook’
Suzanne Bearth, author of “The Edible Art Cookbook,” will be at Kona Stories on Saturday to share her love of art and edible goodies through recipes.
Bearth will be at the Keauhou bookstore from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. She will provide a sampling of Christmas cookies, as well as give away one of her prize gingerbread houses, during the event.
The “Edible Art Cookbook” has been a creative work in progress for many years. Bearth hopes to share her unique love of art and edible goodies through the recipes contained within. Each recipe paired with her one-of-a-kind paintings and will allow readers to get just a little taste of her combined artistic and culinary inspirations, friends, family and extensive travels.
The Grinch will also be at the bookstore from 1 to 3 p.m. for holiday photos.

Kona Book Club
meets Tuesday
The Friends of the Libraries Kona Book Club meets at 11 a.m. on Tuesday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai.
This month’s selection is “Who Gets What and Why” by Alvin E. Roth.
A Nobel Prize winner in economic sciences, Roth introduces what he calls the new economics of matchmaking and market design. Roth’s case studies illustrate a practical approach to economics that enables both individuals and institutions to achieve goals without running afoul of the profit motive.

Travel book club to discuss Erdrich novel
Kona Stories hosts a travel book club discussing “Books and Islands in Ojibwe Country: Traveling through the Land of My Ancestors” by Louise Erdrich on Tuesday.
The group meets at 6:30 p.m. at the bookstore. Book groups are free if books are purchased at Kona Stories, or a $5 donation is requested.
For more than three decades, best-selling author Erdrich has enthralled readers with novels that paint an evocative portrait of Native American life. From her first novel, “Love Medicine,” to the National Book Award-winning “The Round House,” Erdrich’s lyrical skill and emotional assurance have earned her a place alongside William Faulkner and Willa Cather as an author deeply rooted in the American landscape.
In “Books and Islands in Ojibwe Country,” Erdrich takes readers on a tour through the terrain her ancestors have inhabited for centuries: The lakes and islands of southern Ontario utilizing a blend of history, mythology, and memoir.

Antone releases third volume in ‘Kit and Kat Mystery’ series
Big Island Christian author Chuck Antone Jr. recently released the third volume of his “Kit and Kat Mystery” series.
In “PO Box Honolulu, Hawaii,” the two sleuths are off again on another venture and hired by a once famous Hollywood star to find out who’s been blackmailing her for the last 30 years. The only information she can give them is that she sends the blackmail money to a P.O. Box in Hawaii. Soon it is not just blackmail that they’re investigating, but also murder.
Antone, who is also a pastor on the Big Island, also recently released a book that has all three Kit and Kat mysteries.
