Pepper, a three-piece band originally from Kona, will be headlining a special concert Dec. 17 at Kona Brewing Co. in Kailua-Kona.

Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Kaleo Wassman, bassist/vocalist Bret Bollinger and drummer Yesod Williams, Pepper takes the stage at 8:40 p.m. at Brewery Oasis, located off Pawai Place in Kailua-Kona. The group last played at the brewery in June 2015. The trio of former Konawaena High School students formed the band in 1997 and played mostly house parties and garages.

The concert celebrates two years of fundrasing via its Makana Series, which includes four limited edition, island-brewed beers inspired by Hawaii’s landscape and made with island ingredients that tell Kona Brewing Co.’s story. In the spirit of makana, a portion of proceeds of all beers sold benefit local nonprofit organizations. Since its inception, the series has helped raise more than $100,000.

“Kona Brewing Company has always made it a priority to help support those who help pave the way for a sustainable future for our planet. For the last two years, we have taken that further by supporting and highlighting four other local charities that share our passion for sustainability and the environment through the Makana Series,” said Eric Chang, Hawaii market manager for Kona Brewing Co. “We’re thrilled to be celebrating two years of giving with this special event, and are honored that the local friends from Pepper are able to join us. We hope to see many of our ohana here to celebrate with us.”

Divercity and Kimie will kick off the evening of entertainemnt after gates open at 6 p.m. Pepper takes the stage at 8:40 p.m.
