Thanks to tips from the public, Hawaii Island police have identified a woman whose image was captured on video surveillance in connection with a theft investigation.
On the afternoon of Nov. 19, a woman left a salon on the 100 block of East Puainako Street in Hilo without paying for services. After police published a surveillance photo, the public provided tips and police were able to identify her as 38-year-old Stephanie Paulo of Pahoa.
At 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, South Hilo Patrol officers arrested Paulo after she turned herself in at the South Hilo police station. She was charged with fourth-degree theft, given a court date for Jan. 3, and released on her own recognizance.
Police thank the public for their assistance.
