Yates used his speed and strength to lock down opposing forwards and contribute to the team’s goals-against average of 1.09. He also stepped up offensively by providing four assists on the season. Yates was named a first team all-conference selection earlier this season.

As a team, Redlands scored a “double championship,” which included the regular-season and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament titles. Furthermore, the team advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals for the first time since 2007. Redlands was bounced from the tourney after an overtime loss to St. Thomas.
