Pacific Tsunami Warning Center officails say there is no threat of tsunami to Hawaii after a magnitude-7.3 earthquake struck Monday morning in waters off the east coast of Honshu, Japan.
The temblor was recorded at 11 a.m. about and had a registered depth of about 6 miles. Based on all available data, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to the Hawaiian Islands.
Closer to the earthquake’s epicenter, however, forecasters say hazardous tsunami could impact the Japanese coastline within 180 miles.
