Darren Kahookaulana
Darren Keola Kahookaulana, 51, of Kalapana died Oct. 30, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 10, 1964, in Hilo, he was a self-employed maile farmer.
Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcome. Burial will be at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
He is survived by mother, Pearl Kahookaulana of Hilo; brothers, Samuel (Lena) Kahookaulana of Pahoa, Keona Kahookaulana and Albert Kahookaulana, both of Keokea, Elia Kahookaulana of Mukuhulu, Allen (Napua) Kahookaulana of Hilo, Byron Kahookaulana of Ocean View; sisters, Phoebe Kahookaulana, Alvina Kahookaulana and Corina Kahookaulana, all of Honolulu, Deanna Kahookaulana of Kalapana, Nalani Kahookaulana of Keokea, Bernadette (Russ) Piper and Blossom Kahookaulana. all of Kona; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kingston Halualani “King” Pavao, 25, of Keaau died Oct. 15, 2016. He was born Jan. 31, 1991, in Hilo.

Steven Lynn Waters II, 26, of Pahoa died Oct. 23, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he worked for Saarman Construction and Hilo Termite and Pest Control.
Friends may call at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8-9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 and for a 10 a.m. memorial Mass. The family requests casual attire, flowers accepted.
He is survived by daughter, Jaydalynn Waters of Keaau; mother, Piilani Luis of Pahoa; father, Steven Waters of Pahoa; brother, Sheyten (Tiana Pedro) Waters of Hilo; sister, Rosielani (Eric) Young of Conroe, Texas and Anetazha (Alec Alvarez Sr.) Correa of Honolulu; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Pat Waters of Pocatello, Idaho; hanai brothers, Ryan Luis, Joe Ah Heongm both of Pahoa; hanai grandmother, Juanita Konanui of Keaukaha; six nephews, a grandniece, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Yachiyo Nagata
Yachiyo “Ethel” Nagata, 93, of Hilo, died Oct. 27, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Nov. 2, 1922, in Ka’u, she was retired from the former Hilo Hospital and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Louise) Nagata of Honolulu, Gerald (Barbara) Nagata of Hilo; daughter, Anne (David) Gilbert of Concord, Calif.; sister, Fumie Kawano of Hilo; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert Higuchi
Albert Hisashi Higuchi, 74, of Seattle died Oct. 1, 2016, at his residence. Born Jan. 29, 1942, in Hilo, he was a retired food service manager.

He is survived by sisters, Tsutaye Nonaka, Setsuko Isa, Chizuru (Joe) Sugawara, all of Hilo and Carole Yano of Honolulu; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
