To accommodate the arrival of the snowbirds to Kona, Keauhou-Kona Yacht Club will again celebrate its 40th anniversary Friday at Kona by the Sea Clubhouse, 75-6106 Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona.
All current and former members and those interested in joining are invited. Reservations are required by calling 322-6672 by noon Thursday.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with bring-your-own cocktails. The program begins at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7.
Cost is $25 per person for members and former members and $30 for guests, to be paid by cash or check on arrival. Lauren Wilken and Jeanine will provide music.

Mediation center hosts gala
The Kuikahi Mediation Center and the Hawaii County Bar Association will host the 11th annual Recognition Dinner Sunday in Hilo to support ‘Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.’
Kuikahi will present its Peacemaker Award to Barry Taniguchi, chairman and CEO of KTA Super Stores, and Newton J. Chu, Esq., director of the Hawaii Island office of Torkildson, Katz, Moore, Hetherington and Harris. In addition, The Honorable Glenn S. Hara is being honored by the Hawaii County Bar Association for his many years of service.
Chu and Jeri Gertz will emcee the gala event, which features live music and silent and live auctions. No-host cocktails will be served at 5 p.m., with a buffet dinner served at 6.
This fundraiser provides a significant portion of the funds that Kuikahi needs to provide free and low-cost dispute prevention and resolution services. Tickets are $90 per person (of which $45 is tax deductible).

Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers meet
The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will meet from 7-9 Monday at the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers office, 81-6393 Mamalahoa Highway.
Nonmembers are welcome. Special guest Dr. Koji Uchino from Japan’s Kagoshima Experiment Station will speak on unusual types of Japanese citrus and answer growers’ questions on producing high quality citrus in Hawaii.
