Learn to store photos, heirlooms

Malia Van Heukelem will explain how to handle, clean and store precious family photos, documents and heirlooms during a Kona Historical Society Hanohano O Kona lecture.

The free talk is from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at West Hawaii Civic Center. This is the rescheduled August portion of the lecture series. Talks are normally held on the last Wednesday of each month. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and may also bring an item for diagnosis care recommendations.

Elks Club observes Veteran’s Day

Kona Elks will celebrate Veteran’s Day Friday. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and consists of either steak, chicken or mahi mahi for $13.

Make reservations with choice of entree by Thursday by calling 329-2616.

There will be a no-host bar, music and singing by guitarist Errol Ishimine from 5-8 p.m. At 8 p.m., karaoke begins. This special day honoring all veterans will also acknowledge the 241st birthday of the Marine Corps, which was on Nov. 10, 1775. The event will be on first come, first served basis up to the 120-guest limit.
