KAILUA-KONA — The woman who allegedly stole money from owners of property she managed and did not pay taxes for four years has pleaded not guilty.
Shellie A. Grace, 40, of Kailua-Kona, is charged with one count each of first-degree theft and failure to collect and pay over tax, both felonies, and five counts of willful failure to file tax returns, which are misdemeanors. She is charged personally, and as her company, Elite Property Management LLC.
Grace pleaded not guilty to the offenses during a hearing on Wednesday and is free on a $250,000 bond. Her next scheduled appearance is a pre-trial conference on Dec. 7.
Judge Ronald Ibarra is recused from the case. The state judiciary’s policy is to not comment on why a judge is recused.
