Pay dues or leave Waikoloa Village
Recently, during a conversation with a board member, we were told that people who do not earn enough to pay the rising HOA dues should simply sell their home here and relocate to Tennessee or Mississippi where cost of living is more affordable! We are in shock to hear such scandalous and cruel comments from a member of our board of directors!
This is segregation between the wealthy and the folks who are struggling with the high cost of living, increased health care insurance premiums, etc.
This is pure discrimination to push out the longtime residents and welcome the wealthy “Johnny come lately” people who splash money around and want to transform our unique village into a mega-resort setting.
The population of the WVA consists of two distinct categories: Retirees from Silicon Valley, aerospace and defense companies, Internet technology, people with huge inheritance funds, homeowners who sold their pricey properties in major US cities, individuals with settlements from major lawsuits and fat disability benefits. The second category of the population is the longtime homeowners with very low to moderate incomes and who must struggle to make ends meet.
Presently the ambitious and arrogant Board and Special Committees of the WVA persevere in imposing their costly master plan on the general membership, who in general do not have the time to use the money-sucking amenities because they have to accumulate multiple jobs to meet the runaway cost of living.
Injustice and hypocrisy!
Past and present WVA presidents have abused the use of “ohana,” “aloha spirit,” “we must help each other” type of message, as seen in the October 2016 edition of “The Breeze.”
The current board, consisting solely of newcomers to Waikoloa Village, simply impose its extravagant and costly programs, inflicting financial distress to the majority of homeowners, never caring about the plight of the people.
Just say no to the unfair and outrageous dues increase!
