Open Division
Saturday
Farrington (8-3) vs. Waianae (8-4), 4:30 p.m.
In the inaugural Open Division game, the Govs do battle with the Seasiders. Winner gets a date with ILH champ and No. 2 seed Saint Louis.
Punahou (9-2) vs. Kapolei (7-2), 7:30 p.m.
The Buffanblu get the Hurricanes for the nightcap in an ILH-OIA showdown. Expect a show from quarterbacks Taulia Tagovailoa of Kapolei and Punahou’s Nick Kapule. Defending state champ and top seed Kahuku awaits the winner.
Division I
Friday
No. 1 Hilo (8-1) vs. Leilehua (4-7), 7 p.m. at Keaau High School
The top seeded Viks are trying to break a streak of futility for the BIIF at the DI state tournament against the Mules. Big Island teams are 4-29 all time in the state tournament and 0-17 in Division I. Is this the year that changes?
No. 4 Baldwin (8-2) vs. Mililani (6-3), 6:30 p.m.
The undefeated MIL champion Bears had a gripe when they were seeded fourth and not recognized as a league champion. A win over perennial OIA powerhouse Mililani would be the statement Baldwin needs, but it won’t be easy.
No. 2 Campbell (6-4) vs. Waiakea (3-8), 7:30 p.m.
Waiakea recorded just three wins this season, and were on the losing end of some lopsided losses. Now missing its two primary playmakers, the Big Island Warriors are heavy underdogs heading to Campbell.
No. 3 Iolani (3-7) vs. Moanalua (5-6), 7 p.m.
The Raiders had won eight DII state titles but have not won a league game in the ILH since moving up to the stacked DI. Despite that, Iolani is seeded No. 3 and have a chance to prove that the DI tournament is the answer to their limbo.
Division II
Friday
No. 3 Lahainaluna (6-4) vs. Waipahu (8-2), 3:30 p.m.
Lunas might not have a huge home crowd for a Friday afternoon contest, but expect some running from the MIL champs as they welcome the OIA runner-up Marauders. Winner gets No. 2 Konawaena, the BIIF champion.
No. 4 Damien (6-2) vs. No. 3 Waialua (7-2), 4:30 p.m.
Waialua ended a 61-year drought this season in the OIA, but ILH champ Damien and dual-threat QB Marcus Faufata-Pedrina will be a task to slow down. Winner moves on to face top-seeded Kapaa.
