Gavin Seichi Yasutomi, 39, of Las Vegas, and formerly of Hilo, died Oct. 9 in Las Vegas. Born in Hilo, he was a head bartender at Outback Steakhouse in Las Vegas, and a graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Friends may call from 3:30-5 p.m. Nov. 4 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 5 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by parents, Kenneth and Ann Yasutomi of Hilo; sister, Terri Lyn (Cy) Yoshioka of Hilo; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Avelina Alcain
Avelina “Abbie” Acol Alcain, 81, of Keei died Oct. 15, 2016, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born April 16, 1935, in Wailua, Oahu, she was an educational assistant at Honaunau and Hookena Elementary schools and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Hawaii Government Employees Association.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Nov. 4 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua for a 7 p.m. Rosary service and all-night vigil. Friends call again at 8 a.m. Nov. 5 at the church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will be at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. A luncheon will follow at Yano Hall in Captain Cook. The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
She is survived by sons, Edmund Alcain, Bonza (Mary) Alcain, all of Keei, Bobo (Kristina) Alcain of Honaunau; daughters, Verena Grace of Honaunau, Freida (Gilbert) Smith of Kealakekua, Evanelle (Shannon) Grace of Pahoehoe; brothers, Juniom (Vivian) Acol of Walnut Creek, Calif., James Acol of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Octavia (Kenneth) Muraoka of Kalaoa, Olivia Sasada of Kailua-Kona, Judith (Morris Ota) Demello of Holualoa; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two hanai grandchildren; seven hanai great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Oliver Nagatori
Oliver Masaru Nagatori, 94, of Captain Cook, died Oct. 21, 2016, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born July 12, 1922, in Kealakekua, he was a retired carpenter and member of Kumamoto Kenjin Kai, Carpenter’s Union #745 and Lifewater Church.
Private memorial services were held.
He is survived by his sons, Howell Nagatori and Sanford (Debbie) Nagatori, both of Captain Cook, Welsey (Claire) Nagatori of Orchidland, and Dean (Irene) Nagatori of Oregon; daughters, Kathlyn Miyashiro of Oregon, and Lynette (Walter) Hanato of Honalo; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
