Meleuhane, the melodic collaboration of Keikilani Lindsey and son, Leokani, takes the stage Nov. 5 at the seventh annual Uncorked Food & Wine Festival in South Kohala.
A benefit for Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii Island (VASH), which assists Hawaii visitors impacted by adversity during their stay, the festival runs 6-8 p.m. at The Shops at Mauna Lani. The nonprofit’s services help visitors cope with tragedy, from a lost wallet to a serious medical situation or the death of a loved one.
Thirteen top chefs in Hawaii will serve up samples of their special dishes while attendees enjoy a variety of wines from around the world, craft beer and other libations, including nonalcoholic options.
Restaurants featuring tastings are Monstera, The Blue Room, Under the Bodhi Tree, Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Brown’s Beach House, The Canoe House, Mai Grille by Chef Allen Hess, Manta and Pavilion Wine Bar, Roy’s Waikoloa Bar & Grill and Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Bar, A-Bay’s Island Grill and Daylight Mind Cafe.
The father and son duo that is Meleuhane are fifth-and sixth-generation Hawaiian musicians and storytellers. Their album, “The Garden” was a Na Hoku Hanohano Award-nominee this year. They often play with John Cruz, Henry Kapono and other Hawaiian musicians.
