Iroman coverage lacking
I’ve been coming to the Big Island for Ironman most years since 1982. Previously, the coverage by West Hawaii Today of the event has been extensive. This year, however, by previous comparison, it seemed downright paltry. The coup de gras came on Oct. 8, Ironman race day, when the story warning that peak shark attacks occur in October, was put on the front page just as those athletes, who may already be a little skittish about ocean swimming, were beginning their 140.6-mile day.
Given the decreased coverage, the reader is left to wonder if that was just some quirky coincidence or if there were some other message intended.

Relationship building 101
Really, Billy, $800 worth of relationships built at the Evergreen Club hostess bar? What did they do for you to have you spend $800? Their website says a glass of water is $20. Maybe they added ice for you. Hapuna Prince Hotel room for two nights for your nephew’s wedding gift? Relationship building?
Come on, Hawaii County folks are not stupid.

No way to fluoride
Please do not allow fluoride to be added to our county water! The Lancet, the world’s oldest and most prestigious medical journal, has recently classified fluoride as a neurotoxin! This puts fluoride in the same category as arsenic, lead, and mercury. Nine countries in Europe, plus China and Japan, have banned fluoride in water supplies. Snowmass, Colorado, banned fluoride in drinking water in 2015.
Let’s not let the chemical industry poison us any more than they are already doing. And do not use toothpaste with fluoride in it either!
