WAIMEA — This year marks the centennial of Waimea Elementary School Building N, the town’s first public schoolhouse that served generations of Waimea children.

WAIMEA — This year marks the centennial of Waimea Elementary School Building N, the town’s first public schoolhouse that served generations of Waimea children.

In celebration, the public is invited to a free event from 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Isaacs Art Center that will feature live entertainment, unseen treasures from the vault, guided tours of Rhythm of the Round: The Modernism of Madge Tennent show and birthday cake.

The schoolhouse has been home to Isaacs Art Center since 2004. The Big Island landmark is on both the National and State Register of Historic Places.
